What Joanne Inrator taught me ( even without a recording)
Before we dive in, I’d love to hear from you! Text me your stories or thoughts on kindness
Sometimes, things don’t go as planned—but that doesn’t mean the story is lost. In this short episode, I reflect on what Joanne Intrator’s relentless pursuit of justice has taught me, even without our recording. A lesson in resilience, adaptation, and the power of speaking up.

Hi, hi, hi. Today was supposed to be Joanne's episode. due to technical issues, the recording wasn't saved. The recording, I Imagine exists somewhere in space and time, but I do not know where and I was so gutted so whilst I can't bring you that conversation. I want to at least give an update on Joanne and where she is now. So, Joanne is still working as a psychiatrist, which she loves. She wants to be able to continue doing that for as long as she can, because it's her passion, it's her purpose. She just loves helping people. I asked her, because we spoke for an hour, and we talked about the current events that are going on in the world, and her opinion what impact is this having on some of the people that she sees. What impact is it having on her? And also, because I haven't really spoken to anyone in America since the political landscapes changed and I asked her because Joanne definitely is probably one of, if not the smartest person that I've ever had the privilege of speaking to on the podcast and I just said Is it as bad as I think it is? And she was very honest, and she said it is bad, and I said to her, obviously, from my point of view, because obviously I guess it's not bad for, I guess everyone is, everyone's obviously different, but with America, whatever their political landscape looks like, it impacts so many different countries. And You know, because at the moment, I don't really know why, but Europe are not really in favour with the American government. So, I guess that's a worry. So many things are a worry. Um, so it was just nice to speak to someone who was honest with me about what's happening over the water. I do want to say, I did say to her. How well she looked and she'd made such an effort, which makes me feel even worse. And when I said to her how well she looked, she did say, Well, I'm not getting any younger. She said, I'm older now and I can feel it. And I said to her, but you do look amazing. And I'm, I'm not just saying that. And I asked her what she does to just make her know that she, is still capable of things because we don't get any younger. That's just, that's just not how it works. We all know that. And she said, which is a definitely a common theme that I keep hearing and I agree with, she said, on the days that are harder, What helps her is being in nature. And she said, when you get a chance, get out there. Be in nature. Ground yourself. It doesn't judge you, it just accepts. It's kind of like we don't judge trees on, oh that tree's pretty, then that tree. And even if we did, the trees don't care. So, that was her, there's a reason I'm mentioning trees. And she said, other than get out there, be in nature, ground yourself, release your emotions into the land and ground yourself. She also said, and she said, might sound like, um, I'm crazy, but she said, hug a tree. And obviously, I responded with, that doesn't make you sound crazy. I completely agree. So I wanted to add that in. Also, then I will be finished, we ended the conversation with me asking whether she intended to revisit writing. And she mentioned I was the second person to ask her that. She concluded with, she is thinking about it, it's not a yes, it's not a no, but it's in her own time. Because she does want to focus on her job, the job that she loves. But she is also still publishing articles, which I'm going to Put the show, and if you do get a chance, visit her website. Um, and then maybe you might get a bit more of an update than I'm being able to give you on where she is. But from speaking to her, despite what's going on, she is in a good place. I guess she has learned with everything that she's been through that she can't rely on anyone to make her feel better. That has to come from her and of I love that. So, be kind to others, but most importantly, be kind to yourself.
